It's not too often anymore that all 5 of us are home for dinner. Believe me, I try very hard to make this a priority. Since it was Ev's birthday we were all together to celebrate. What ends up happening, however, with 4 females around the table is complete chaos and laughter, primarily due to Janelle's antics.
Don't ask me - I don't have any idea why she ended up like this...As the dinner conversation progresses (or regresses, depending on your point of view) inevitably the girls start speaking in movie lines. This is a common phenomenon in our home and it drives their dad nuts. "Can't you come up with an original thought? Does everything you say have to come from a movie?" Here Elise and Janelle are quoting Ox from "While You Were Sleeping":
"You fell in love with me?"
that quickly.....
falls apart....
On to the presents!
(Yes, Elise your hair looks fine.)
Thanks to Scot and Beth R., my children believe the only proper way to sing Happy Birthday is very loudly and off key. Thanks, friends.
My gentle daughters ready to devour Evelyn's dessert. Ya, welcome to my world.
(note: Christoph is still singing.)
"A joyful heart is good medicine." Prov. 17:22

if that's not humbling, i don't know what is.
oh puhleease, Elise... it's not like we don't know what you do at home. hahaha.
this is why i love your family. and poor Uncle Chris: "can't you just have an original thought? does everything have to be from a movie?!"
those first two of Evelyn are hilarious.
Doc sounds exactly like my pops. Cept his is more along the lines of... "WHAT are you quoting now?"
seriously, Elise. we've seen it ALL before. =)
Doc sounds just like my dad. "what's THAT from!?"
Happy Berfday, Evelyn!
Hilarious - and that would be exactly why we so admire your family! =) Next family night try getting the girls to end all their sentences with a rhyming animal, like - "that's it for now, said the cow," or "hmmm...let me see, said the bee" ... that one will really get him going! =)
That was a sweet window into your family, Jean - loved it! Thanks for sharing!
And Brian can commiserate with Christoph... and Don 4522... and Bear-Killer Nelson ~ life with girlies is crazy; but there's no place he'd rather be!!
Happy Birthday, Evelyn!
Tee Hee. Par for the course among the Kellers. Laugh and laugh. Confuse Daddy. Mommy has tears she's laughing so hard. I even have photographic evidence of Jean and Mary.... :)
Happy Birthday Evelyn! What kind of cake was that? This post made me smile!
way to go aunt jean, you've totally captured the warmth and life of family night. i felt like i was there !
yes, kath, I'm well aware you have many incriminating photos. :)
tk, that's not cake. we're not much of a cake-eating family. evelyn's menu of choice that night: crab cakes, garlic bread with olive oil, garden salad with strawberries, and pink rice krispy treats.
