Washington Nationals Opening Day 2007! This is our third year as season ticket holders so it was our first of at least 20 games over the next few months. Who cares if every pundit predicts the NATS will end the season in last place in their division. We Mayses are NATS fans through thick and thin. As someone very dear to me has said, "Jean, these are the lean years." We brought Kia with us who is staying with us for the week (YAY!) and met the entire Glab family there. A great time was had by all! Here's Corinne with a Curly W.... This is Teddy Rossevelt just about to repel off the roof of crumbling RFK Stadium. (No amount of money would get me up there.) During the middle of the 4th inning of every game is the President's Race. Last year Teddy never won a single race, so this year they had him "fly" in, in hopes of beating the rest of the group. No such luck, Teddy.
He ended up flat on the ground like a turtle stuck on his back unable to right himself. It took three men to help him stand up. Apparently those heads weigh 40 pounds. Hanging around after the game....
GO NATS!

Thanks for the pics Mrs. Mays!! It was so much fun!
I showed this to Andree because he loves the Nats(!) and his comment was "They go to all the sporting events I want to be at!"--I'd expect someday you'll find my husband in the bleachers next to you, whatever game you're attending.
Rayford Glynn Mays, Jr. was my father-in-law. He was born in 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama. My love and admiration for him runs very deep. He was a man of strong principles who made a significant difference for good in the lives of many underprivileged people throughout his life. His compassion for “the least of these” was genuine as indicated by his generous nature. I loved him very, very much. I married his son, after all! Following the death of his dear wife of 57 years, Matilda, we had the privilege of having him live with us. Sadly, after moving to a larger house to better accommodate him, he passed away after nine short months. We decided to name our home in his memory.
