Ev and I went for a walk in the woods this afternoon. Rock Creek Park virtually begins in our backyard. (Truth be told, we started out looking for the cover for our grill which blew off in the wind storm the other day. I think it blew all the way to Frederick.) We decided to do some discovering.
We never found the grill cover, but we had a lovely afternoon.
Rayford Glynn Mays, Jr. was my father-in-law. He was born in 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama. My love and admiration for him runs very deep. He was a man of strong principles who made a significant difference for good in the lives of many underprivileged people throughout his life. His compassion for “the least of these” was genuine as indicated by his generous nature. I loved him very, very much. I married his son, after all! Following the death of his dear wife of 57 years, Matilda, we had the privilege of having him live with us. Sadly, after moving to a larger house to better accommodate him, he passed away after nine short months. We decided to name our home in his memory.
